My wax jacket still looks good, but smells very musty. What can I do?
Your wax jacket still looks perfectly presentable, the wax finish seems sound and there’s no sign of damage. But that musty smell… it rather takes the pleasure out of wearing it. There’s no need to part with your trusted jacket just yet!
A musty smell can develop if a wax jacket is put away while damp or left hanging in a poorly ventilated space for a long time. Moisture can also become trapped between the lining and outer fabric, allowing mould to develop where you might not immediately see it.
A targeted odour treatment
At our workshop, we can treat your jacket in a dedicated disinfection cabinet using Biozone Air Care technology. This ozone treatment kills bacteria and mould and tackles stubborn odours, including mustiness, smoke and lingering perfume.
Will my jacket need cleaning or rewaxing as well?
Not necessarily. If your jacket is otherwise clean and the wax finish is still in good condition, a Biozone Air Care treatment alone may be all it needs. For visible dirt, we recommend standard cleaning or a thorough manual deep clean through our professional dry cleaning service. We recommend rewaxing when the existing protective finish needs attention.
